Shoppers in Sydney’s Iron Cove have reported feeling awkward this afternoon, after a prominent local Italian gentleman skirted very close to ‘really losing his temper’ at the Harberfield IGA.

Leader of the Opposition and Member for Grayndler, Anthony Albanese was the subject of a spectacular Mediterranean meltdown at the supermarket’s deli counter, after finding himself too busy gossiping with some local nonnas to hear his number being called.

Haberfield is known colloquially as ‘Big Italy’ due to the fact that 20.7% of it’s residents speak only Italian at home, and with 3% speaking Greek, the area is recognised as the last bastion of Southern European-Australia culture in Sydney’s Inner-West – after Leichhardt’s ‘Little Italy’ was diluted by hipsters and middle-aged Lesbians several decades ago.

While these kinds of in-store tantrums are quite common amongst post-war Australians of all backgrounds, the Italian flair of a Haberfield deli counter blow-up is surprisingly even more emotional than an asymmetrical two-tone Boomeress taking issue with the service at David Jones.

Nicknamed the Italian Stallion by his Labor Party colleagues, Mr Albanese today looking a lot more like the Italian Karen, as he berated the equally stubborn deli matriarch for not bending the rules to let him back to the front of the line.

“Do you know how long it took me to pick my mozzarella?” he roars.

“There’s 16 to choose from. It took me nearly an hour, and now you make me line up again?!”

“This is joke!”

“Everything a fucking joke”

The Member of Grayndler was reportedly down at the shops today to pick up some off-cuts of old meat for his son’s dog, because why waste money on that can shit?

As well as some ricotta, but the fresh ricotta furthest from the glass, not the old shit up front.

As the old girl behind the counter makes it clear that she does not believed there should be seperate rules for elected officials, Albo concedes that maybe he’s being a bit over the top.

With the deli numbers being called out in Italian, Albo must now go back to Uno Numero, as he resigns to one of the chairs placed in the corner for the nonnas and nonnos.
