As Scott Morrison looks set to form a Liberal Government following his first ever election win as Prime Minister, vacancies are now opening up in cabinet positions right across the board.

This follows the now possibly ill-thought-out resignations from Julie Bishop and Christopher Pyne, as well as anyone else who had carried experience in diplomacy and international relations.

Tony Abbott’s loss in Warringah also adds to the brain drain, depending on who you ask. This leaves Prime Minister Morrison, that bloke named Josh, and Peter Dutton as the only household names left in the party. And the only politicians who have faced the pressure of both media and public scrutiny in a high-profile cabinet position.

Enter: Bevan Pappas.

The promising 28-year-old Hyundai salesman won the fringe metropolitan Brisbane electorate of Costello last night, and is already making waves within the party. Despite the fact Scott Morrison didn’t know what he looked like until he face was flashed on the big screen during Channel 9’s election coverage last night.

As a former Young Liberal law student, turned Young Liberal media student, turned Young Liberal car salesman – Bevan says he feels more ready than ever to step into the role as Minister Of Defence.

“I feel Christopher Pyne was terrific in his role and I congratulate him for all his hard work” says Bevan, in that same kind of precocious inflection that high school captains use in their end of year address.

“But, I look forward to exploring a new realm for our Defence ministry”

“Namely, our nation’s relationship with Korea and their military contract tenders. I have always stood by the automative expertise of the Geyonggi province in Seoul”

“Just last month I sold thirteen Hyundai i30s. You know they’ve got the same German designers from BMW? They’ve moved them to South Korea”

While the average voter proved themselves not overly concerned about the team behind their national leader, proven by yesterday’s play-the-man election, Liberal insiders say they are still relatively concerned that people like Bevan will have access to the government kitty as of next week.

“I’m gonna buy a drone [haha]” says Bev.
