A recent report by the agency behind Brisbane City’s Eight Year Plan To Get Trendy (8InARow) has found that majority of Queensland’s cultural budget goes towards slightly yellowed street lights.

The in-depth report, which was lead by professor Mal Tuqiri from the University Of Queensland, found that mood lighting carves out more of the budget than those anti-terror bollards that are disguised as pop-up advertisements for Riverfire, and all of those fireworks they set off at Riverfire, as well as the jets that they fly over during Riverfire.

“What we have found is that with the 10 or 20 new ‘laneways’ that have popped up in the inner-city over the last two years, is the sharp increase in mood lighting”

“Forget all of the Subway-smelling perfume we spritz across all of the suburban shopping centres, these light bulbs costs a bomb”

“Same with the cables”

However, the city council and residents stand by the gross cost of making the city look really nice at night time, with many arguing the lights look fucking sick when they reflect off the water.

“The purple neon lights coming off the Treasury look grouse on the Brown Snake” says one local Hutchinson Builders scaffolder, Graham (55).
