In sensational news out of the English capital of London, it can be confirmed that World Number 1 tennis player Ash Barty has spent her afternoon off in unusual fashion.

Following her demolition of Alison Van Uytvanck in straight sets early yesterday afternoon English time, the country’s favourite sportsperson right now found a way to make herself even more endearing to the public, by having a crack in the cricket nets with the Australian mens cricket team.

A short time after knocking Van Uytvankck over 6-1 6-3 and finishing her press conferences, Barty headed over to the Australian Cricket teams base for the World Cup and strapped on the pads to give the Aussie pacers something to bowl at ahead of the impending Semi-Final showdown.

“Yeah after I heard that Shaun Marsh went down and Maxy (Glenn Maxwell) was a bit sore, I thought I jump in and have a crack,” Barty said exclusively to The Advocate earlier.

“Haven’t lost it actually,” laughed the former cricketer.

“Not sure what was happening, but the bat I was using seemed to have a massive sweet spot.”

“I mean obviously Starcy’s got a lot of pace, but I found him quite easy to play to be honest.”

“Just happy to help out ahead of the crunch match. Not our final pool game against South Africa, they are useless, I mean the Semi coming up.”

“Justin Langer asked if I’d consider filling in at Number 5 for that South Africa game but I just don’t know when I’ll be scheduled to play at Wimbledon so I told him I couldn’t.”
