The good people of Townsville say they are still unsure whether or not any of these two blokes fighting tonight can actually throw ’em.

This observation only boosts interest in tonight’s super welterweight fight between Brisbane schoolteacher Jeff Horn (20-2-1) and Tim Tszyu (15-0-0), son of legendary fighter Kostya, in Townsville tonight.

The pair are fighting for the IBF Australasian super welterweight and WBO Global super welterweight belts, which are currently held by Tszyu.

It marks the first punch-on to not include a sleeve tattoo in Townsville since 1943, when several American soldiers made the fatal error of flirting with some local nurses on The Strand – sparking extreme jealousy amongst the nearby unmarried Australian troops.

Since then, almost every fight to take place in the pubs or streets of Townsville have featured at least one coi fish sleeve or southern cross chest tatt.

Between the Cowboys NRL young guns and the ADF personnel stationed at the barracks, North Queensland holds the highest skin to ink ratio in all of Australia.

Tonight’s final undercards will begin at 7pm AEST and are available as a pay-per-view offering on Fox Sports’s Main Event channel, with KAYO also coming to the party to allow Victorians to watch from the comfort of their homes.

With the Kostya-nostalgia now rippling across Marrickville and greater Western Sydney, the fight has been pitted as a State Of Origin match up, filling the void of what would have been a three-match rugby league series between NSW and QLD, had COVID-19 not rattled the sports calendar this year.

Every bloke in Australia who has taken part in a boxercise class, or has watched at least one professional boxing bout before in their life is currently offering warped odds based on something they read in a group chat.

The people of Townsville says they remain open to the idea that two men are able to fight for 12 rounds without the advantage of any form of body-art.

However, many of the AJs and local bikies remain doubtful that clean-skins can actually blue.
