Despite only managing to wrangle a gritty 28, the fact that Usman Khawaja managed to send Virat Kohli back to the sheds on three runs yesterday has been enough for Australia to forget all that other stuff that was in the news this week.

As one of Australia’s most experienced and humble test cricketers in the current side, Australia cannot afford to get caught up in the sensationalist news cycle, out of fear that it would affect his game.

This follows Indian captain Virat Kohli declaring the Adelaide Oval his overseas batting paradise before falling to what is expected to be the gully catch that makes the highlight reel for the next few months.

The tourists had made it clear they were keen to have a bit of fun with the embattled Aussie side, but tumbled to 4-41 before lunch.

Hundreds of thousands of Australians are now really struggling to figure out what happened earlier this week, something about Khawaja, but not really cricket related.

“Fucks me” says local cricket fan, Craig Morton (55, Wynnum).

“I can’t remember… You sure it wasn’t just the media talking about the catch?”

Another cricket fan, Berryl, 71 from Castle Hill, says how good was Ussie’s catch.

“So Good” she said.

“Absolute screamer”
