The coach of arguably the most successful international sporting team in human history as told of how he considers his team to be the perennial underdogs of world rugby.

All Blacks coach Ian Foster explained that after the Wallabies’ electric draw against Argentina over the weekend, that makes his team the underdog.

“The draw between the Pumas and the Wallabies means they’re both better than us now. History has turned a page. We’re in the Foster chapter now. A phase of rugby when we rebuild,”

“The All Blacks have always been considered the underdogs of world rugby and our loss to Argentina and the draw over the weekend cements our position,”

“It’s all up from here, it might take six days. It might take six weeks. Probably not six months or six years, we aren’t the Wallabies. We are rebuilding.”

The Advocate reached out to the room full of pigeons that run Rugby Australia’s media relations team for comment but they hadn’t been corralled inside yet.

More to come.
