The fallout surrounding Barnaby Joyce’s comments earlier today that the two constituents of his that perished in a bush fire were ‘probably Greens voters’ has claimed its first job.

After joining Mr Joyce’s team after he returned to the backbench earlier this year, Barnaby Joyce’s reflection has resigned over the controversy, releasing a statement this afternoon saying he’d let the team down.

“It’s been a great run,” his reflection said.

“I’m proud of what Barnaby and I have achieved in such a short about of time. I’ll always cherish the memories of Barnaby and I writing press releases together, taking photographs of the television for tweets, going to the pub, going to Sydney to rally against women try to take control over their own bodies,”

“I’m leaving very big shoes to fill. Barnaby’s next media advisor will need to have a thick skin and be physically threatening enough to keep Littleproud and McCormack looking at the carpet during meetings. I wish Barnaby the best of luck and God speed!”

The Advocate reached out to The Nationals for comment but have yet to receive a reply.

More to come.
