Ambassador to the United States Joe Hockey hosted the Prime Minister this week in Washington during his State Visit to the US.

As is tradition, the visiting Scott Morrison planted a tree in the Embassy’s garden. He chose to plant a beige magnolia.

During the press opportunity, where media from both Australia and the United States was present, Joe Hockey decided to swan about like he was coaching a Jamaican bobsled team.

The Advocate was able to confirm that while it was quite warm in Washington that day, a base-level of decorum is expected of our representatives overseas.

Hockey is perhaps best known to people under 30 as the Federal Treasurer who declared the ‘Age of entitlement’ over during the harsh summer of 2014.

Our reporter spoke to a reporter from The Australian who was present at the Embassy over the weekend.

“He looked like he couldn’t give a fuck. The height of entitlement,” he said.

“I remember when Kim Beazley had his knees done and they wheeled him into the Oval Office looking like he’d just been run over by a truck. He still had a suit on. That day, he would’ve had to have suffered the indignity of having someone dress him up in his off-the-rack special,”

“But then again, as a wealthy man from the Lower North Shore, being draped in blue linen bed sheet is pretty on the money in terms of a cultural outfit? That’s what I’m led to believe, anyway?”

“The Prime Minister just looked like a banker on his quarterly inspection of his Belted Galloways.”

More to come.
