One thing Dennis Pooley is famous for is turning a two-hour pub quiz into a three-hour one.

He pads out the space between the questions with useless, directionless anecdotes about his week he finds humorous.

The 25-year-old theatre student also yells into the microphone randomly which scares the shit out of everyone there.

“It creates a fun atmosphere,” he told our reporter.

“Like I could just read the questions out in silence to a bunch of beautiful minds but like that wouldn’t be me, you know?”

“I like to inject a bit of personality into my shows. I call them shows because that’s what they are.”

Last night as he hosted the trivia night down at the Growled Pigeon on O’Davis Road, those there began the game at 7:51pm. It was advertised to start at 7:30.

Two lots of fifteen questions divided by a short intermission of ten minutes. One patron there said it was more like 40 minutes.

Dennis said he’d take funny answers in lieu of correct ones. That defeats the purpose of the pub quiz, said one patron present last night.

Bonus points were added for funny team names. He had to laugh when one team of young professionals decided to name their team ‘Dennis is a pedo’.

The winning last night wasn’t there to hear that they won, they left after the final question was read out.

If you’d like to see Dennis in action, go to the Growled Pigeon’s trivia night next Wednesday at about ten to eight.

More to come.
