Australia is bracing for more “heavy-handed” raids by the Federal Police, following the extraordinary searches of the clubhouse of prominent NRL minnows the Canberra Raiders this morning.
Several officers remain inside The Milk headquarter, trawling through more than 9200 items in relation to allegations that the may have stolen the AFP’s nickname.
It comes just two days after the Canberra home of political reporter Annika Smethurst, as well as the ABC Ultimo newsroom yesterday, in response to several other incidents that appear to have made a fool of several other government agencies.
Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart said he feels as this serves him right for remaining silent throughout the freedom violations that took place throughout the week.
“First they came for Ms Smethurst, and I did not speak out because I was not a Murdoch pawn” he said.
“Then they came for the ABC, and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist”
“Then they came for the Betoota Advocate, and I did not speak out because I was not a hard working regional reporter…”
“And then they came for the mighty Canberra Raiders, and there was no one left to defend us”
A spokesperson for the AFP says this is just a routine raid aimed at getting to the bottom of why the Canberra Raiders decided on a club mascot that could be so easily confused with the propaganda arm of the Liberal Government.
“Everyone get over it lol” said AFP spokesperson, Sue Percop.
“We are just doing a bit of housekeeping after the election”
