Former Prime Minister and current rock spider apologist Tony Abbott has today made another sensational claim.

Speaking to reporters out the front of Melbourne Assessment Prison after visiting his good mate and mentor George Pell, Abbott publicly called for Prince Andrew to be knighted.

His calls for Knighthood for Prince Andrew come despite the under-fire friend of deceased billionaire sex-trafficker and paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, facing increased pressure to face the allegations he sexually assaulted underage women.

An interview with Virginia Giuffre, who claims she was trafficked by the disgraced US financier Jeffrey Epstein as a 17-year-old to have sex with Prince Andrew, has urged the public “stand beside her” and hit out at Prince Andrew’s “ridiculous excuses”.

However, that has not swayed the man who lost the safest seat in Australia, who has thrown his weight behind a Knighthood for the man facing allegations of sexual abuse and paedophilia.

Abbott refused to confirm whether his mate George Pell who is serving time for sexually abusing young boys had anything to do with his push for the Royal to receive a Knighthood.

“Look George and I didn’t talk about matters like that,” explained Abbott out the front of the Melbourne Prison yesterday morning.

“We just wanted to have a good catch up and really forget about the awful situation he is in,” said new board member at the Australian War Memorial.

“Anyway, I won’t spend to much more time on this issue, but if I was still the captain I’d be making a call about getting Prince Andrew a Knighthood,” said the man who famously gave Prince Phillip a Knighthood for some reason.
